Why I love what I do
Growing up in a small town surrounded by farms in the north of the Netherlands, I moved to the ‘big city’ of Rotterdam when I was 20 years old. I finished my Bachelor of Business Administration about two years later and quickly decided to start working as a freelancer. Whatever came on my path, I took the assignment. This started with doing a lot of (free) design work and advicing start-ups about their marketing strategies. Later on I found my passion… online marketing. Eager to learn more about this, I created my own niche website. To be admitted, the first creation of this later turned out to be really succesfull website, looked awfull. I had to learn myself HTML and coding, because yes, back then we designed in Dreamweaver (oh boy, hello to WordPress). But along the way I got better in it and while exploring what my visitors wanted, I managed to create a niche leading website which was running on affiliate marketing and Google Adsense income. After running this website for five years, it was time for a new challenge: I sold it and focussed on new projects.
Now five years ahead I’m still active in online marketing. Meanwhile there is also a new (niche) website, a new challenge. Most of my time is now however being spend on leading projects for non-profit organizations in Rotterdam. And although I love online marketing, I also love organizing these projects, developing myself, my qualities and my ambitions. I’m lucky that I can do what I love to do as a freelancer, choose my own projects and work whenever and whereever I want.
